Jeep with leaky roof!!!?

I drive a 92 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Its leaking water from the roof. These are the two locations: front of the roof liner just to left of the rear view mirror. The back of the roof liner also on the left side (driver side of the car). The leak on the front doesn't drip it just saturates the roof liner. And the leak on the back drips into the cargo area as well as saturating the roof liner. What I want to know is: Does any one have any suggestions as to where the leaks are starting and does anyone know if the leaks are connected in some way? PS I have checked all the weather stripping on the doors and they are all in great shape. Please help rain is projected for the rest of the week!

  1. quit clowning and get a new roof
  2. The leak at the front is likely the windshield seal. Fixing it usually requires pulling the windshield which is next to impossible without breaking it. Check with a windshield repair specialist and see what they think. The leak at the back is likely the seal at the top of the hatch. I think the only Cherokee we have that does not leak there is our 99. Often leaves and especially pine needles collect in the seal area and keep it from sealing. It is also possible; that you have a leaking nut sert on the roof rack. This may be hard to find with the headliner in place. If you need to remove the headliner to fix it form being wet, you can have someone spray water on the roof rack mounting points and see if water comes in there. We had that problem on one of our 88 XJ's. Mike http://mikestrawbridge.com/jeep-cherokee-off-road.shtml
  3. I am a water leak, wind noise and sunroof repair specialist. First off, the seal/weatherstrip around the windshield cannot cause a leak under any circumstance. It is for cosmetic purposes only, and doesn't seal anything. The windshield sits on a bead of urethane sealer. It may well have some loose somewhere and be leaking. Easy enough to find. But very unlikely to cause a leak anywhere other than the front. My question is: Do you have a sunroof? If so, that's almost certainly your leak. If not, then your other options are as follows: 1. You have two leaks. Windshield up front, maybe the rack or a seam in the rear. Least likely. 2. Roof rack is leaking, and is the culprit of both leaks. Most likely if you don't have a sunroof. 3. Roof seam is leaking, and can also cause both leaks. Second most likely.
