Car Luggage Carriers

How can you keep your checked-in luggage weight under 15kg (for Ryan Air flights in the U.K)?

We will be flying into the U.K. in August from Australia. Our international air carrier allows 20kg. My wife is extremely nervous that she will be over that weight allowance, let alone being under 15kg for our Ryan Air flights. Ryan Air charge 8 euros per kg over! Sounds like a rip-off. So, my question really is: what measures can we take to reduce our checked-in luggage weight to 15 kg? Should we wear all our heavy clothing on the plane over? Should we take just enough clothes for a few days and wash and dry them frequently on our travels? We would really appreciate any helpful feedback you can give us.

  1. tell your wife to lose some weight. badum ching.
  2. They key is good planning with clothes and shoes, and do plan to use the washer/dryer while travelling. Shoes are heavy, so pack only 1 extra pair. Limit toiletries to 1 toothpaste, 1 shampoo, and keep sizes down (liquids are also heavy!). Max out your Ryanair carry-on allowances (a generous 10kg). Plan well, and you can stay under the limits.
