Car Luggage Carriers

Going on a plane with a car seat?

I amd going to be traveling to California pretty soon. And my son is 8 months old. I didnt buy him a seperate seat, and I was wondering about a car seat. If I go in a taxi do I have to put him in a car seat. For safety's sake I want to put him in the car seat but its an infant carrier and I want to know if its allowed on the plane. He wont be sittin in it bc like i said hell be on my lap but i need to know if they will put it with our luggage, or will i have to bring it on the plane and find a spot for it. Any advice, knowlege would help. Thanks

  1. they will put it with your luiggage when you check in or you can ask that they check it when you get on the plane - they can put it on the plane like they do with strollers and wheel chairs right beofre you take off.
  2. bring your carseat they will check in luggage for you and I know they took our stroller and stored it for us on the flight instead of checking it but call the airline about the stroller first
  3. when you get on the plane, they will take it, then put it in a special place with the rest of the strollers, car seats etc. when you get off the plane, it will be right there at the exit waiting for you
  4. phone a head first to find out for sure
  5. my sister traveled with her baby and didn't buy an extra seat. luckily her flight had a few extra seats so they just let her bring the car seat on the plain and use it. I'm pretty sure most airlines realize that you are going to have to ride in a car after you get off the plain and are going to need a car seat. you can try looking up the airline you are flying on and see if they have any info or you can just call
  6. When I've traveled with babies, I've checked the car seat and used an umbrella stroller to get the baby around. Usually, airlines will let you check the stroller as you get on the plane and give it to you as you're getting off the plane. If you'd feel better bringing the car seat with you onto the plane, you may be able to fit it in the overhead compartment, or they can check it for you as you get on the plane.
  7. I have a 2 year old that we will be traveling with soon. I decided to get him his own seat and leave the car seat at home. The rental car company is going to give me a car seat with the rental. My neighbor who flew recently took the car seat and decided to check it. The agents put the seat in a plastic bag and checked it for him. I didn't want to deal with carrying the seat, plus the chance of the airline losing it. Good luck!
  8. hi! i have traveled alot to cali, and i live in texas, and the airlines will allow you to have 1 item for a lap baby, either a carseat or a stroller that they will check for free, they will give you a pink ticket to put on it and you take it right up to the plane, and they check it in right there, then when you get off the plane, they put it right there where you step off the plane waiting for you. its standerd that way. you can check 2 bags yourself in pre-board, and 2 carry-ons if u have an umbrella stroller i suggest u have that as a carry on and then your diaper bag and your purse doesnt count. thats what i alwasy do, and im covered. and if u need your pack n play while on the trip, for the two bags u check in, get the biggest bag you can find, for you and babys things, and check the play yard. just make sure u put it in a big trash bag so it doesnt get scuffed up. and yes in a tasi your supposed to use a carseat, but ive seen before that they dont always enforce it. i hope this helps! ive made the trip a lil too often and i feel like ive got it down to a science now. lol. good luck!
