how to convince my dad to put a bullbar and roof racks on his new car?

my dads getting one of the new landcruiser 200 series saharas and because we have kayaks we have to put roof racks on. but he doesnt want to? he says he wants it to be classy? and i was like if wanted it to be classy y did u get a turbo diesel???????????????? and because we go out into the country so much we should have a bull bar but he wont. he recons that it would look like a hill billy car. out friends bought 2 turbo diesel saharas and roof raks and bull a on it on both and so are we one for us and one for my grandad. he put roof raks and bull bar on i just recon if dad doesnt it wll look stupid becaause its the woulds most renound 4wd i just want to know how to convince him????????? oh and we actually need roof racs to carry kayaks coz my mum has a trd aurion

1. This is a clear case of the powdered behind syndrome. Once someone has changed your diapers, it is really hard to tell them what to do. They will do what they want to and won't let their kids order them around. It makes no difference to them what the neighbors have or think. The only thing you can do is make suggestions to your dad and wait until you have your own vehicle to do whatever you want to do to it.
2. The key is whether or not you need the bull bar and the roof rack. If you want to install these just to add a off-road look to a luxury SUV, then you should not do it. It sounds like you have a legitimate use for the roof racks for the kayacks, so you have a good reason to install them. As far as the bull bar, I do not see any purpose. It sounds like you are just trying to keep up with what your friends have done. Look up the phrase "Keeping up with the Joneses" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keeping_up_with_the_Joneses Try suggesting the following to your dad......He will admire you for this suggestion...... Before you buy the bull bar, you should consider using the money you would have spent on it to improve someone else's life....someone who may be less fortunate than you. Only a very small percentage of the world's population can afford a Landcruiser (and even fewer can afford 2 landcruisers that are decked out with accessories). There are millions of families in the US that don't even make $25,000 per year.........example: Take that $600-1000 that you would spend on the bull bar and consider giving it to a girl/boy scout troop to fund a camping trip or other supplies.....consider starting a scholarship trust fund at your favorite college or university to allow students from those less fortunate families pay for thier tuition....Or better yet, find something that is important to you and tell your dad about how you want to make it better!
