What is involved removing the roof racks of a 2001 Subaru Impreza? don't really like the look of the roof racks on my car and want to get them off. How do I go about doing this myself? or Where I could I take it to have them taken off properly?

Outback Noise - Roof racks??? My 2006 Outback makes a high pitched squealing noise. It sounds kind of like the disc brake caliper wear indicators, but I only have 2,000 miles on the car. It comes on at about 40 MPH and gets rather noticeable by 60 MPH. It does not vary in pitch, but it does get louder as you drive faster. Again, the pitch is constant and it is about like a dog whistle. It does not vary with engine speed and it does not go away if I coast at speed in neutral. I went to the dealer today and nobody there could hear it! They suggested that I might be hearing a wind noise from the roof racks and moved one bar a little bit. I can't say for sure if this changed it or not, but the noise is still there. They did put the car up on the lift and checked out the brakes for any unusual contacts and did not see anything. Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think it's the racks? Do you have any other suggestions? I think I might the cross bars off of the rack to see if the noise goes away...

Is it easy to reposition a Mazda 3 roof rack? I have a Mazda 3 roof rack (in Australia), which needs to be repositioned a bit. Is this easy to do. I have removed the actual bars and looked at the positioning points and these seemed to be secured to the car with an unusual bolt and I do not have a tool to unscrew it. How do I fit a roof box/rack to a Ford Focus? I have a W reg Ford Focus, and a standard Halford roof box which I need to fit. The Focus User manual says to peel off the rubber/plastic strips from the roof of my car and then attach the roof rack to the rails. However this does not seem quite right because when I started to peel off the rubber/plastic strip it seems like the strip is glued on, and if I was to peel it off entirely, I am not sure how to get the strip back on after. Also, underneath the strip there does not seem to be a metal rail as I was expecting to attach the roof rack bars to. Is the Google street view car a black Prius with camera modules mounted on a roof rack? A week or so ago I rode my bike past a rather unusual black Prius cruising through my neighborhood. The car had a roof rack with a few identical plastic-looking modules on it, each pointed in a different direction (front, up, sides). Each (camera?) module was mostly white plastic perhaps 8" x 8" x 12", with one side of dark shiny plastic that could very well have been covering the camera lens. It was definitely making circles around my neighborhood, as I saw it 2-3 times over the course of two days. Could this be the google maps street view car? I've looked on line for pictures of the street view car and what I've found don't look like the car I saw, but I don't know what else it could have been. Any theories?
