So, what's your Hunting Vehicle? ? This is one of the questions I don't think I've ever seen in the Hunting section, or if it was posted I missed it. My main hunting vehicle is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0. The XJ square body, not a Grand. It was my main ride for a few years but now that it's been replaced by a new sedan for work and around town, I've been making it more suitable for the real rough back-country of the Southwest mountains. I ripped out all the upholstery behind the front seats and sprayed it with Rhino liner and added a few drain holes so it can be hosed out. I added an equipment box where the rear seat well was and permanent lockable gun rack on the inside roof for four rifles. Did some power train mods and lifted it a modest 2.5 inches, so I could stuff some large tires under her for added traction and ground clearance. Added a hitch and some tow hooks and some recovery gear. Then there the Sony CD player and amp for some ear-pounding metal, to get you in the mood during that cold 3am drive. At my place in the country I keep an old 81 Dodge step-side pickup that has seen better days but that Slant 6 keeps on smoking along. It's mostly for getting firewood but I'll take it to pick up a deer as long as we are not going in rough country. So, do you have a dedicated hunting vehicle or are you just using the pickup? Gotta love those Jeep XJ bodies. This is my second, the 84 lasted 16 years and over 235k. Forgot about the 2 way also. I have the stock steel wheels with 31x10.5s on them. With the 2.5 in lift, they do rub some. Rather than lift higher, I'm likely just going to take the Sawz-all to the fenders. Boots are not vehicles my fellow hunters. Do you hunt outside your back door? If so, lucky you. Some of us actually drive to the hunt, that was the question. BTW: Danner's, 12 EE. Love em.
Which roof racks are better - Thule or Rhino? I am looking to buy roof racks and bike carriers for Toyota Corolla and am wondering which system is better out of Thule or Rhino.
