Car Luggage Carriers

Does anybody know of a good Luggage carrier for a car without a rack? Does anybody know of a good luggage carrier to carry suitcases and whatnot for a 1,000 mile trip this summer? We used to have a Sears X-Cargo (i think that's what it was called) that did the trick. It had enough to hold about 8-10 decent sized suitcases. I'm looking for something similar that doesn't need a rack on the roof. It will be used on a Hyundai Elantra. Please point me in the right direction. I can't find anything useful on the web!

Me, my dog and luggage Mexico City to Acapulco, can't fly - anyone with a firiend/ family with car ?? I am moving to Acapulco and am bringing my rather large Doberman Pinscher with me. Well due to his size and large carrier he will only fit on a 757 aircraft. I can get that type of aircraft into Mexico City but no 757's are flying into Acapulco.I need to get me, my dog and luggage from the Mexico City airport and drive to Acapulco. Thought of a taxi and havent ruled it out. Any body have a family/ friend ith a car/truck in either city that wants to make a buck?? Stowing luggage in a truck bed? Hello, What's the best method when putting luggage in a truck bed to prevent it from getting wet. Driving 12 hours down to florida so I am pretty sure we will hit a storm or two. Could I just buy a car cargo carrier and just sit it in the bed of the truck, I would think the weight of the luggage would keep it in place. Would a 20 dollar tarp work. Can you recommend a car top carrier? We have a Mitsubishi Montero Sport that has a factory installed luggage rack with side bars only. e don't want to spend a lot because it may only be used a couple times, and we would prefer a soft carrier for storage purposes. Is it ok to let my two cats roam in the car instead of being in carriers? I have two cats who have anxiety attacks when traveling in their crates. Then never travel more than an hour in the car because its between school and home. The drivers side is separated by drink holders and the center console type things. If i just block off the opening under the passenger side dash with blankets or luggage will they be ok to let them just wander in the car? Please don't give nasty, rude or sarcastic comments i just want decent opinions. Thank you ps. my cats are well mannered and only have problems when placed in the crates. they breath heavy and get sweaty paws. cleaning up battery acid leak from trunk of car? my father changed my car battery in march and placed the dead battery in my trunk to dispose of at sams where i bought the new one. me being lazy i never returned it. one day i had to slam on my brakes and i could hear and feel the battery tumble hard. i forgot about it still. last week i finally returned it to sams and found that it leaked on my trunk (suv) carpet but a minor amount. a found a map shriveled, not sure if the acid made the map disinigrate. i used gloves to remove the map so now my trunk is clear. my question now is must i shampoo the carpet? are there any dangers? what do i use to clean the carpet? is it safe to store my pet carriers there, my luggage, etc... or has enough time elapsed that it become unharmful?

Going on a plane with a car seat? I amd going to be traveling to California pretty soon. And my son is 8 months old. I didnt buy him a seperate seat, and I was wondering about a car seat. If I go in a taxi do I have to put him in a car seat. For safety's sake I want to put him in the car seat but its an infant carrier and I want to know if its allowed on the plane. He wont be sittin in it bc like i said hell be on my lap but i need to know if they will put it with our luggage, or will i have to bring it on the plane and find a spot for it. How do I check a bicycle as luggage? I'm flying my brother to New Orleans (ABQ to MSY) in June of 2008. He is a bicycling enthusiast and would like to bring his Fixie with him, also it's way cheaper than renting a car. I've never flown with or checked a bicycle. I understand that most airlines will allow you to check a bicycle as opposed to an extra piece of luggage as long as it's packed a certain way. I'm currently looking at either Continental or Delta for his flight. My main point of confusion is the new $25 fee for an additional piece of luggage. I've read that this fee is only incurred when flying with multiple carriers for one trip. He will be flying one way and most flights I've looked at are single carrier. If he checks one piece of luggage and his bike, plus whatever additonal carry on he happens to have, does this fee apply? I am trying my best to make this flight as inexpensive as possible.

What car should I go for? I need to get a bigger car since my lttle 306 is struggling to cope with the family. I have 2 young uns in car seats and a occasionally a rather rotund 12 yr old, all to fit in the back seat. I've thought about people carriers but since there are no rear impact tests carried out, I'm a little unsure as to their safety. Traveling in a car with a Cat for 36 hrs.? I am moving to Mexico in a wk and i'm taking my cat with me. He already has his shots and just needs his health certificate... well, my 7yr old cat is going to travel in a van with my dad and brother. the van is going to be full with boxes and luggage. The problem is that they will be on the road for 36 hrs. that is way too long! **What do i do for my cat to be able to drink water, eat food, and go potty? the carrier is just big enough for him to move around in. [i think its a bad idea to put his bowls in it] **and, in Mexico there is a place called Sonora. my dad will go through there within 24 hrs. of the trip. What they do there is they check what you have with you in your vehicle and sometimes go through your stuff. Is it ok for my cat to be in the carrier for 24 hrs, until they pass through Sonora, and my dad can take him out of the carrier? When we take him out he usually just hides under the seats. do you have any tips for me? No, we will be driving the whole way. They will take turns driving me, my mom, and my little brothers will get to mexico in a bus {like a greyhound bus}. but, my dad and brother and getting there with the van, which will include my cat.

Is my mom abusing me? My mom has slapped me across the face at least 50 times in my life, I am 12 at the moment. Once she even chased me around the yard attempting to kick me. Once she caught me, she threw me onto my couch, and thre a show at me. Less than a week ago, she took me on a trip to Chicago, and I didn't want to take a shower in the hotel room because I thought that she might leave me in Chicago by myself, I told her that I would gladly take a shower as soon as I got home. She escalated this, and I kept on telling her that I would not take a shower, which must have really gotten her mad. She threw some shoes at me, and threatened to leave me there alone. She left the room, and I followed her into the elavator(I know, dumb idea), and she threw a luggage carrier at me. Once she got out, she said that I wasn't allowed to follow her, or she would levave me, so she left me underground in a place where you park cars. Later, she left me on the streets of Chicago for around 15 minutes. She has done more. Normally, however, she is very nice to me. She even got me a Wii for Christmas, and the reason that I went to Chicago was to see the Broadway show Wicked. I also really don't want to leave my own home, since I know it very well, and I would probably miss my pets the most. My parents are divorced, but my Dad stays at my mom's house almost all the time(complicated situation). I am also a vegetarian by choice, and if I go into "the system", they probably won't be able to accomidate my dietary wants very well. I am 99.9% sure that my mom does not have any disease that would alter her thinking, after all, she's a nurse. Am I spoiled? High maintenance? I'm very confused! I don't wish to be rude or ignorant. Please help? I do need everyone's honest opinion. I'm afraid I might be a 'spoiled brat', a 'high maintenance girl' or something of the sort. I really don't want to be! I don't usually like to talk about myself, but I suppose I would have to in order for someone to honestly and truthfully answer the question. My aprent's home is on a hill with a gate at the top of the driveway. Our home is 4,500 square feet, however I have a room with a closet, no personal bathroom or anyhting. We do have a pool, but it's a bit more nesicary because there is no public one, and it's nice to invite friends and family over for backward barbecues during the summer. I personally thinkt eh house is very nice, but we did pay for it, and my parents just sold our other house to pay for the mortgage. We purchaced it from j rockcliff realtors, it's not like it was just given to us. For my sixteenth birthday, I did recieve a yellow mustang convertable, however even at the time of recieving it, after driving it arroudn some I felt a bit uneasy, I had done nothing to deserve the car. I felt bad, and after 8 months of driving, I've given it back to may panrents, but 1 month ago I did something that kinda cancels it out. I do like to get my nails done once a week. I travel down the hill to victoria's hair and spa at the blackhawlk plaza, and get them there. I pay for it myself, and it's just somehtign I love to do. I've never gotten a pedicure however, and although I get my hair done I've never dyed it. I find clothing and shopping to be more of a hobby than an actual necisity. Some people collect old coins, or nice furniture, I like to collect clothes. I do buy high-end brands, but I get them on sale at stores (such as nordstrom or bloomies, I always got oto the sale section), and even used, such as places like ebay. I do have very nice clothing, however I've purchaced most of it myself, and find it to be a collection. I've collected 40+ pairs of shoes, ( about 1/2 are designer, but most of the name brand stuff I purchaced on sale), 20 pairs of denim (it's premium/brand name, however most of it I get from ebay, used or from sale racks at nordstrom or saks fifth), and other things such as coats jackets and shirts. My parents give me 500$ a year to shop for clothes (wich I will admit I dont ahve a problem accepting, should I be feeling bad when I acept it?) but everyhting else I pay for out of pocket. Same with purses. I really like europian brands, and unfrtuantely they are expensive. I've tried buying replica handbags before, but the quality was dispicable, I've obtained 40+ authentic handbags... some have been from outlet stores but the ones that aren't have cast me lots of money... should I feel guilty about purchacing them? I do pay with my own money, and I need laptop carriers and luggage... but should I not purchace the premium ones? I DONT want to come off as sopiled or bratty. I dont want people to judge me just because of what I own! My parents gave me an iphone 3 months ago, it's really fun and all, however I didn't like taht they were paying 90$ a month for service. My dodcor did reccomend them purcahce it for me to do strength training (the gym stuff we have at home is just cardio for my mom) but should i be paying for this as well? I inherited gold jewelry along with pearl and diamond pieces, some of wich was tifffany. I keep it in a very safe place, and i've never worn it in public, but even having it makes me feel spoiled. What's the best way to travel with a baby alone? Hi, I am about to travel with my 1yr old by myself during the Thanksgiving holidays. I have been reading about the products sold to help with the carseat lugging issue. There is the expensive $80 carrier with wheels that you attach your car seat to...or there is the cheaper $15 strap that attaches to your carry-on luggage that will hold the car seat and the baby and she just gets wheeled around in it. I cannot decide if I want to spend $80 or trust the $15 straps. The reviews for both are really good. Can anyone give me some advice for what you have done during your travels alone? I wanted to add that NOT having the car seat on the plane is not an option. I have to have it. She is sitting in her own seat. I need to figure out a good way to travel with a baby AND a car seat.

Traveling with a young puppy? So heres my dilema. I have to go pick up a rescue puppy pretty soon, he will be 11 weeks when I pick him up but he is a 14hr drive away. I have never had to transport a such a young pup such a long distence and I wanted some advice. The plane ride would be about 4 hours and from what I understand as long as they are small enough they can ride in a cat carrier up front (not in luggage) but my question is his ears?Would they bother him if he had a chew toy or will the change in pressure be bad at such a young age? He will see a vet before I leave his home state so obviously I will be asking the vet these questions as well, I just wanted to see if anyone has expeirence with long distence travel and puppies. I just dont know how a 14hr car ride with a young pup would go bc im pretty sure i'll be making the trip alone, I would hate for him to be carsick the whole way. Also, how strict are the law about transporting APBTs (mix) across state lines? He is young enough that I'm sure he could pass for another breed if need be but I dont want to run into any kind of issues...

The puppy is 11 weeks old, its been through enough in its short life-I WILL NOT "ship it" I have to go down to pick him up myself, he needs to see a vet before I bring him anywhere near my other dogs. And yes, there ARE laws about transporting APBTs over state lines, my question was how strict are they and at what age do they apply. Thanks for the information Beta, I think I would feel more comfortable ultimatly if I just drove him up, my only worry would be stopping at truckstops before he has had all of his vacines, I think im just going to have to set the back of my SUV up as a little "potty area" with wee wee pads...I just hope he forgets that as soon as we get home haha

Help me interpret my dreams? I had a couple dream scenes last night that I remember. The first one began with me being a school student, and being aboard some ship that was apparently the size of a mini-aircraft carrier. It was rather rickety. The ship ended up sinking, and we had to all get out through a tiny opening in the front of the ship. The sequence must have repeated, or maybe the ship came back to the surface, and we got on board again. It sank again. Then a military carrier came to rescue us. There was an odd sequence where an officer getting everyone on board checked everyone's luggage saying, "no traveller's cheque, no traveller." Apparently he was checking identities of luggage to make sure that people didn't grab the stuff of the dead and carry it off. It still seemed odd to me. I was watching this scene but didn't participate. The last scene was completely separate from the other two. I got a new car. It was a red one, I remember, and I was trying it out with some lady in the passenger seat -- not sure who she was. It had some new technology in it, not your standard gas and brake pedals. I also was delighted to discover that it had air conditioning! (I've rarely ridden in a car with actual A/C.) There was a brand name that I remember, but it doesn't exist in reality. Thoughts on these as metaphor?
